The Zodiac killer coined the name "Zodiac" in a series of taunting letters sent to the local Bay Area press. These letters included four cryptograms (or cyphers), three of which have yet to be solved. We have only 150 staff but run one of the world’s top websites. We’re dedicated to reader privacy so we never track you. We never accept ads. The different actors were employed to match the varied physical descriptions of the Zodiac Killer by eyewitnesses and surviving victims. With the additional sourcing and the new wording focusing more on the "in popular culture" aspect, I'm happier with the content. The zodiac is a coordinate system of twelve "signs", based on twelve constellations used in astronomy and astrology.
